1912
The Termomeccanica Group was founded in La Spezia in 1912 as "Società Cerpelli & C." and later became "Termomeccanica Italiana S.p.A." The company designed and built machinery for both fluids compressing and pumping in the industrial and marine sectors. During and after World War I, machines were produced with all kinds of engines: mechanical, electric, and steam, for industry, the Merchant Navy, and the Italian Navy.
1930
In the 1930s, technological growth led to the development of refrigeration units, with fast compressors of different sizes, for both marine and land applications.
With the electronics revolution, automation applications were developed, culminating in the creation of sophisticated refrigeration plants, pumping stations, water treatment and desalination plants.
1950
Since the 1950s, the company has expanded its scope of activity to environmental plant engineering, first in civil and industrial wastewater treatment, and later in waste treatment and disposal and energy production from renewable sources.
1978
TM.E. S.p.A. - Termomeccanica Ecologia was established in 1978, and in the following years developed transforming the plant engineering division of Termomeccanica into the company we know today, assuring a wide range of technologies and a significant know-how through the merge of: De Bartolomeis, a pioneer and developer of municipal solid waste incineration technology; Ansaldo Acque, an international specialist in water treatment; Ansaldo Tecnitalia, a leader in rotary kiln technology.
1995
In January 1995, the assets of Società per Azioni Termomeccanica Italiana, which belonged to the former state-owned EFIM Group, were sold to Termomeccanica S.p.A. in order to continue, with private management, the important traditions of the Company.
2000
In the 2000s, TM.E. S.p.A. has grown and affirmed itself throughout the Italian and European market of the construction of waste to energy plants, acquiring a number of important orders first in Italy (San Vittore, Cagliari, Bologna, Gioia Tauro, Lecco, Vercelli, Pietrasanta) and then in Poland, Belgium and Portugal.
2011
In 2011 TM.E. S.p.A. acquired the company CMG, specialized in chemical engineering and supply of turn-key plants turning its name into TMIP during 2011. Ten years later it became the Industrial Process division, specialized in the realization of flue gas systems and industrial process with professionally completed plants all over the world.
2023
In 2023 TM.E. S.p.A. innovated again by integrating its technological competences, with acquisition of the Swiss company Revitec, already a strategic partner in recent years, a manufacturer of waste combustion grates with a patented Automatic Combustion Control system.
